The Master's in Fashion Management combines business management know-how with the skills required for a successful career in marketing, trading, purchasing or selling of luxury and consumer goods. Learn about the complex value chains of such companies and various marketing concepts and trade strategies. The Master's in Fashion Management will focus both on e-commerce and traditional retail structures. The programme addresses a wide range of practice-based issues, including marketing and brand management of luxury and consumer goods. The lecturers on this course work for various companies, such as Montblanc, Hugo Boss, Procter & Gamble, and Beiersdorf. They share their practical business knowledge with students. Students on the Master's in Fashion Management programme will spend the third semester at a partner university. The International Office offers advice and counselling to help you choose the right partner university for you. The Master's in Fashion Management comprises project work, excursions, and a twelve-week placement. As a rule, the Master's dissertation is based on practical research and completed in cooperation with companies such as Douglas, Peek & Cloppenburg or Richemont. You thus learn to apply newly developed skills directly to the workplace. The Career Centre at ISM offers advice and help with application materials and job interviews. You will have the best possible preparation for a career in various areas of the luxury, fashion, and consumer goods sector. The Master's in Fashion Management allows you to develop the necessary skills and tools.

Educational organisation

Students are expected to complete the Master's in Fashion Management in three semesters, plus the Master's thesis. In the first semester, you will learn about various sales structures and also how to choose the right properties for your retail strategy. Pricing and product development for luxury goods additionally play a role at the start of the course. This forms the basis for modules focusing on customer relations management, brand management, and design management.

The third semester of the Master's in Fashion Management course is spent at an ISM partner university. This gives students a better understanding of the international perspectives of the chosen field and promotes cross-cultural skills. The Master's degree course incorporates a placement component and integrates practical projects into the lectures.

Study abroad unit(s)

Participants spend the third semester of the programme at one of the ISM partner universities in Europe or overseas.

Internships

A twelve-week, compulsory internship in an international context during the first and second semesters guarantees a high level of practical relevance.

Language requirements

Applicants should provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following:
  • TOEFL - minimum 80 points (Internet-based)
  • at least 30 ECTS in a university programme conducted exclusively in English
  • university degree in English studies
  • native speaker of English (to be evaluated on an individual basis)

Academic requirements

The prerequisite for admission to the Master of Arts in International Business is a completed first study programme with a minimum study period of six semesters and a final grade conferred by:
  • a university or
  • an equivalent foreign higher education institution
and submission of the application forms as well as participation in an application interview.

Enrolment fees

Once you are accepted as a student at the ISM, you are required to pay enrolment fees, which amount to 10% of the tuition fees.

Funding opportunities within the university

In principle, the ISM would like to offer all qualified applicants the opportunity to study at the ISM, regardless of their individual financial situation. The ISM provides financial aid to selected students in the form of scholarships, reductions in tuition fees, and interest-free student loans.
