Architecture is a production that touches people and community and can be defined as a domain of knowledge and practice. Architecture is being interaction and communication with human and space on which based on knowledge and built environment. Architectural education is organized through all the phenomena that have created space that including the process of design, representation, practice, history, conservation- restore, renovation, material, structure, fabric-light-color etc. and producing the profession and research area. On the other hand, the organization of interdisciplinary approach in education between the architectural and engineering & social science is very important.  Architectural field, planned at this view, attracts undergraduate and graduate education. Architecture education in AGU contains individualities with its innovative and flexible curriculum. Architecture maintains an applied education based on research and project oriented multidisciplinary studies mainly on history and theory of architecture, building and construction, conservation, restoration also has a close relation with informatics, environment, advanced materials, art-culture management. With this point of view AGU department of architecture determined its vision educating innovative architects with an awareness of global issues who has an interdisciplinary study and research culture. In this context to gain a real research mission, conducting education and research activities at graduate level programs is an inevitable necessity for our undergraduate education providing department. Masters with thesis, will be conducted in English with local and foreign faculty members who are experts on their fields, is aimed to support the AGU’s aim of being one of the leading national and international research centers. In this context, Master program is prepared for the candidates who has a bachelors’ degree from applied science or social science which are Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Sociology etc. and to train the students in a level of experts based on experiencing the research, examination and application phases of the space. Master program will response the requirements explained below:

  1. There are about a hundred departments of architecture and new ones are still opening in both state and foundation universities. The lack of a satisfactory academic staff is obvious considering the current academic labor. The establishment of a Master program in Kayseri will contribute the academic labor in this geography as a great alternative considering the current Master programs are concentrated mostly in Istanbul or Ankara.
  2. This space-based program aims to generate an academic knowledge in architecture in order to gain the interdisciplinary expertise and the attitude towards the education based on the research, examination and application.
  3. The language of the program will be in English which means the future graduates of the program will be the academic labor or the researchers not only in Turkey, but also through worldwide.
  4. This program will support the generation and development of the architectural knowledge by creating a new and active research/study areas in between the applied/social sciences and architecture as an academic or professional practice.
  5. It is aimed to utilize the architectural knowledge produced in this program for the benefit of the society in collaboration with the governmental and non-governmental organizations and related sectors, towards the mission and vision of AGU.
  6. This Master program is planned for being internationally visible due to the international academic staff and co-operations of the university. The contribution to the international visibility of AGU through the architectural knowledge, which will be produced by the international student and academic staff in the scope of this program, is aimed.

One of the following exam results is mandatory for International Graduate Applications:

- GRE Quantitative Reasoning score of minimum 153 (or 680 according to the old score system).

- GMAT score of minimum 500.

- Graduate Assessment Test GAT™-GENERAL score of minimum 70% for GAT-Accumulative and 28% for GAT-Quantitative Reasoning sections. 

- Application for Ph.D. Program with a Bachelor degree requires minimum score of GRE Quantitative Reasoning 156 (or 720 according to the old score system) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) 590 and minimum Grand Point Average (GPA) of 3.0/4.0.

- GRE & GMAT scores are valid for three years.

One of the following minimum scores as proof of English Proficiency:

- TOEFL iBT: 87
- PTE: 74
- YDS/e-YDS/UDS/KPDS: 73
- AGU English Exemption Exam* (AGU-IMS Exam): 70 (minimum sub-score per each section)
*AGU-IMS exam is only valid for M.Sc. application. Ph.D. applicants must hold one of the other English proficiency tests scores.
