Human Health education encompasses various professions. These consist of environmental health, physical health, social health, mental health, and spiritual health, as well as sexual and reproductive health education.
Education in this area will equip you with an understanding of promoting, maintaining, and restoring human health. Moreover, Human Health education offers a lot of possibilities for professional growth in distinct directions. Here are some undergraduate programs at U.S. universities that will help you become a Human Health professional.
Health and Human Services, Bachelor of Science in St. John’s University
The undergraduate program in human health at Saint John's University equips students with the theory and practice of management and social and behavioral sciences. St. John's University shares Vincentian and Catholic values, so the program emphasizes helping disadvantaged groups in leading health and social service organizations, and New York hospitals.
Human Health BA Major at Emory University
Emory's program is based on an interdisciplinary approach to the study of complex scientific and social issues related to human health. Graduates work in research administration, clinical trials, and laboratory management. The program includes three types of classes.
The first class, called Health 1,2,3, is shaped by predictive health research on nutrition, exercise, and stress management. And the second class is Predictive Health And Society and focuses on the study of medical practice. In addition, the course includes interdisciplinary topics ranging from business and legal perspectives to the humanities and nursing.
The third class Sleep: Science And Culture introduce the latest research on sleep and health. For example, students will learn how attitudes toward sleep in different cultures change over time.
Public Health at the University of Tampa CSSME and CNHS
The program focuses on identifying the social and behavioral determinants of health and preparing professionals for leadership positions in public health. Students may select among three areas based on their interests: behavioral health, public policy and social change, and wellness.
The program also accesses the flexibility to take courses outside of the major. For example, students can take additional courses in women's health, gerontology, biology, ecology, international and cultural studies, psychology, and sociology.
At the same time, the program includes a required internship (12 credit hours). Students can help develop public health policy in the U.S. House of Representatives, collect data for a national study in Costa Rica on preventing the spread of syphilis and HIV from mother to child, or work to improve the quality of pediatric medical care at Tampa General Hospital.
The internship also allows for work with One Bay Healthy Communities on health care access and health disparities in the Tampa Bay area or with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
