A career in marketing can take you into almost any sector of business, and into workplaces all over the world. You'll be able to make a vital contribution to commercial success in both the private, and increasingly, the public sector.

This course is particularly oriented to those who wish to combine the key principles and practice of Marketing with emphasis on the management of festivals, events and conferences. The practical applications, based on real business scenarios, will help equip you for a marketing career in this fast-growing international industry.

You'll benefit from our strong links within the marketing, festival and event industries all over the world, with guest speakers, industry links and, of course, the opportunity to immerse yourself in marketing practice within one of the most famous festival cities in the world.

Marketing requires a wide range of skills. You'll learn to think analytically, and critically examine the issues confronting the global business environment and the festival and events industries. Brand management, research skills (both quantitative and qualitative analysis) and presentation techniques will be developed alongside the ability to formulate policies and plans, and deliver exciting business or cultural experiences.

Based over one year, the course will involve lectures, tutorials and independent study.

Below is an indication of the modules you may study:

Trimester 1

Principles and Practice of Marketing, International Conference Management, plus either Marketing Communications or Consumer Behaviour.

Trimester 2

Strategic Brand Management, International Festival and Event Management, plus either Direct and Digital Marketing or Global Marketing, New Venture Planning, Selling and Sales Strategies, or Global Marketing.

Research Methods is taught over Trimesters 1 and 2

Trimester 3

Dissertation

You will need an honours degree with a minimum of a lower second classification. Alternatively, a lower degree plus a minimum of two years relevant work experience will be considered, or an HND with a minimum of five years relevant work experience (an interview will be necessary). English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6 TOEFL iBT® test: 75 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
