Master programs in the UK

Form of education

Master program in the UK usually lasts for 1-2 years. As a rule, the last six months are devoted to writing a dissertation. There are also several types of Master programs:

Taught Program These programs are most common in England and they are often chosen for the career growth. The course includes lectures, applied classes (seminars, master classes, workshops), as well as independent work. The last 3 months are devoted to the preparation of the diploma and its protection. Depending on how well you studied, the degree program is awarded on the program: Honors - Honors-Pass - with passing score Fail - with a non-passing score.

Research and Research-Taught Programs

These programs are taught to conduct independent research and produce results; mainly they are received for the purpose of further study in the graduate school. At the same time, the program includes the educational component. This program opens up opportunities for a scientific career and for professional growth. Research-Taught Programs last from 2 to 3 years in the mode of full-time education and from 4 to 5 years in correspondence courses. After passing the examination tests and diploma protection, a master's degree is awarded (MA / MSc by Research).

Professional / Practice Programs

Applied programs are suitable for those who study business, management, hotel business, logistics, communications, marketing. The educational process combines theoretical and practical training, and at the end of the course, the students work on their diploma project.
