Food science touches the lives of people in important ways because food is a basic need.
Trained individuals with dedication and talent are constantly needed to continue supplying safe, high-quality food. Job opportunities in food science are abundant, and often there are not enough applicants to meet placement demand.
Some food science graduates, especially those who speak a second language, will find opportunities with global food agencies to meet critical food needs in other countries.

This curriculum deals with all aspects of the food industryboth theoretical and practicalfrom producing raw materials through processing and packaging to marketing finished foods. The curriculum balances fundamental principles and practical applications of food science within a flexible program that permits students to tailor education to personal career goals. Students choose between two options, science or food business and operations management for their degree.Graduates are needed to manage and supervise sophisticated food manufacturing industries that produce poultry, fresh and processed meat, dairy products, bakery goods, frozen and canned fruits and vegetables, confections, and snack foods. Job placement and starting salaries have been excellent.
Each university in the Unites States of America sets its own admission standards so there isn't the same criteria for all the students and the university can decide which applicants meet those standards. The fee for each application is between $35 to $100.
After the selections of the universities you want to attend, the best of all would be to contact each university for an application form and more admission information for the international students. Moreover, for a graduate or postgraduate program it's necessary to verify the admission requirements. Some programs require that you send your application directly to their department.
Admissions decisions are based on students's academic record and different test scores, such as TOEFL, the SAT or ACT (for undergraduate programs) and GRE or GMAT (for graduate programs). Admission decision is based on your academic results and motivation.
No work experience is required.
