    During the course of this Master's programme you learn to independently evaluate information in a critical manner and to conduct academically sound research in a particular field of study.

    The themes offered in the various master's tracks of this one-year programme are closely interwoven with the research conducted within the Leiden University Centre for the Study of Religion. This ensures that you will develop a well-founded vision of present-day academic developments in their specialist fields. The internationally renowned staff teach in a variety of fields, including: Philosophy of Religion; History of Religion; Sociology and Psychology of Religion; History of Christianity; Biblical Studies; Comparative religion; Material Culture of the Biblical World.

    University requirements


    Program requirements

    * BA in Theology or World Religions from Leiden University or equivalent BA degree (Religiestudies, Godsdienstwetenschap) from a recognised university. * BA degree from another relevant discipline (Arts, Social Sciences of History) on the condition that they are able to show their knowledge of the field of specialisation is sufficient. In some cases knowledge of the original language of a religion is required. * Students are also expected to meet the admission criteria specific to their chosen specialisation. These can be found at the programme descriptions of the specialisations. * Proof of sufficient proficiency in EnglishThis requirement does not apply if you have: * completed your education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or * an International Baccalaureate * a Dutch VWO-diplomaStudents who have a BA in Theology from Leiden University do not have to apply for admission. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 7 TOEFL paper-based test score : 570 TOEFL iBT® test: 100
